Nurturing stability in our expert teams, products and services

The LoneStar Group employs over 1,300 people worldwide across 13 business units. Operating as one team, this expanding community is built on a foundation of global long service, where exceptional levels of workforce retention strengthen our unmatched capabilities. In many cases, our employees remain within the organisation for most of their careers, showing an enduring commitment to colleagues and customers alike.

To explore this lasting loyalty in greater detail and understand its far-reaching benefits, we spoke to Clelia Cayama, Global Director of Human Resources for the LoneStar Group. Responsible for leading our people strategy into an exciting future, Clelia’s role is vital to prolonging our ongoing success as a welcoming, ambitious and highly-skilled organisation. Whether leading recruitment, career development, reward schemes, implementing modern HR initiatives that enable us to thrive through periods of change or being a confidante to all, Clelia and her global team strengthen our world.

Hi Clelia, can you explain the vital importance of our people strategy?

The LoneStar Group is built on our people. It’s their knowledge, experience, skillsets, integrity and strong industry relationships that drive us forward. More than that, our people are vital to the identity of the organisation. It’s their daily interactions, collaborative spirit and eagerness to strive for excellence that we’re most proud of.

To nurture this productive environment, we’re continuously investing in our people as well as recruiting top industry talent and supporting them all to forge a fulfilling career. It’s important to promote from within too, leveraging every opportunity to advance the careers of our high-potential employees whose growing aptitude will eventually lead our future teams.

There’s a trend of global long service across the entire group, why is that?

Visiting our sites and meeting new people, it was inspiring how many individuals have spent a lifetime with us; as was their pride in being part of the organisation, their passion for what they do and how respected they are.

Over 180 people, or 15% of our global team, have been with us for 10 years. 115 have been with us for between 16 and 20 years, while 40 have been part of our journey for more than 25 years. This incredible stability speaks volumes about the LoneStar Group. It’s a great place to work, full of experience and collaborative relationships.

How do these stable teams, full of expertise, strengthen our customer offering?

The continuity of world-leading skills and understanding within the LoneStar Group is priceless for us, our customers and the wider industry. It’s about nurturing trust and integrity. We trust in our own abilities, which further strengthens the trust our customers have in our people, products, services, reliability and proven excellence.

Does global long service benefit apprentices and new starters too?

Of course. But it also benefits those already on their career journey within the organisation. Knowledge sharing across levels of seniority and departments helps everyone. Whether that’s the 20 new apprentices we’ve welcomed into our UK teams this year, or being able to promote existing employees into more senior roles. Illuminating a clear path to collective success is key for everyone within the extended LoneStar Group.  We want everyone to understand that they can, and do, make positive impacts when going the extra mile.

What are your people and investment ambitions for the future?

We’re implementing an innovative HR System that we plan to expand globally. This will automate some of our HR processes and free our team to focus on face-to-face interactions. We’re also launching a new Long Service Award Program to recognise the outstanding commitment of our people.

Thanks Clelia. Finally, how can candidates explore a career at the LoneStar Group?

I’d encourage all future candidates to visit our new global website and follow our LinkedIn page for the latest roles and updates. Of course, all internal colleagues can continue to speak with their HR teams for any support or further information.
